Coral Springs residents and visitors have plenty of opportunities for entertainment and learning this week, with offerings catering to many interests.
Looking for something engaging for kids after school? Check out new art, STEM and special-interest programming at the library and wellness center. Plus, toddlers and their caregivers can spend an afternoon celebrating the classic “Frog and Toad” series for Valentine’s Day.
Teens and adults can also pick up new skills, from AI-assisted essay writing to financial literacy and internet infrastructure.

Honoring Our Heroes breakfast (7:30 to 9 a.m.)
The Coral Springs-Coconut Creek Chamber of Commerce will host its inaugural breakfast celebrating military veterans and first responders, “whose courage, dedication, and service make our community stronger every day.” The event will be held at the Coral Springs Museum of Art with a keynote speech by Frank Babinec of Elite Coaching and Consulting. Pokemon Club at Northwest Regional Library (3 to 4 p.m.)

Garden Club of Coral Springs monthly meeting (10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)

Mermaids, Medicine, and 400 Years of Black Women’s Magic (2 to 3 p.m.)
Join Dr. Lindsey Stewart, a Black feminist philosopher, for a talk about her new book, “The Conjuring of America: Mermaids, Medicine, and 400 Years of Black Women’s Magic.” The text tells the stories of how Black women, in secrecy and subterfuge, courageously and devotedly continued their practices and worship for centuries and passed down their traditions. These same practices informed the creation of Vicks VapoRub, Aunt Jemima’s Pancake Mix, Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” (2023), and classic blue jeans. Members and non-members of Happy Hoofers, the Northwest Broward chapter of the Florida Trail Association, for their monthly meeting at Fern Forest Nature Center’s Royal Fern Hall. This month’s featured speaker will be Tiffany Bright from The Rattlesnake Conservancy. She will teach listeners how to identify common native species, what to do if you encounter a venomous snake and why the animals are important to Florida’s ecosystem, followed by a game of trivia.
