With two Academy Award nominations (for Call Me By Your Name and A Complete Unknown) under his belt, Timothee Chalamet is joining the coveted league of A-list stars and is en route to becoming the face of Hollywood. Naturally, he has to have some inspiration that shaped his skill and passion for acting.
The 29-year-old star recently revealed his favorite films. During a chat on Anthony Edwards’ YouTube show, Believe that Awards, Chalamet shared that Christoper Nolan’s The Dark Knight has been his all-time favorite. However, there is one 90s film that had him obsessed recently. He said, “I always say The Dark Knight. That’s always going to be my favorite. But my favorite of the year has been Heat. I saw Heat late, and Heat is a classic. Heat with Pacino and De Niro.”
It’s interesting to note that the 1995 crime drama Heat has often been cited as an inspiration for Nolan’s Bat-tale, due to their somewhat overlapping narratives: an LAPD lieutenant engaged in a tense cat-and-mouse chase to catch an elusive thief.
Chalamet’s picks come as no surprise, since choosing well is key to performing well. Without a doubt, both Heat and The Dark Knight trilogy are commercial and critical successes and are regarded as some of the greatest films in cinematic history. By judging Chalamet’s work, one can tell, his portfolio also features projects that are nothing but brilliant.
Timothée Chalamet will next be seen in A24’s Marty Supreme, playing table tennis champion Marty Mauser. The film is slated to hit theaters on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025.
