Great balls of fire! Tom Cruise wants Shakira to contribute a song to the Top Gun 3 soundtrack, a source tells the National Enquirer.
The third installment of the action franchise is officially in the works, Jerry Bruckheimer announced in April during Paramount’s CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas, per Variety.
“Like with his recruitment of Lady Gaga to contribute to the soundtrack of Top Gun: Maverick, Tom has been eyeing Shakira to provide music for the third film and they have an ongoing dialogue about that,” reveals the source. “He wants to hear her ideas and concepts.”

It wouldn’t be the first time Shakira, 49, has been called upon to deliver a major moment.
The “She Wolf” singer has provided not one, but two official World Cup anthems: 2010’s “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” and this year’s “Dai Dai” with Burna Boy.
“Still, the Top Gun franchise is its own animal,” says the source. “If Shakira takes up this challenge, Tom and the other producers are expecting nothing short of a massive hit song from her.”
Gaga’s power ballad, “Hold My Hand,” received a string of nominations in 2023, including Best Original Song at the Oscars and Best Song Written for Visual Media at the Grammy Awards.
“It’s no simple task, but almost nothing associated with Tom or the Top Gun universe ever is,” says the source, adding that the action star, 63, is “obsessed with topping the incredible business that Maverick did four years ago, and he’s not going to let up until he’s confident that he has.”
