It’s been a few years since Lydia Cornell and Deborah Van Valkenburgh rose to stardom on Too Close for Comfort, but the two actresses are just as stunning in 2026!
Comfort was must-see television back in the ’80s, and followed Cornell and Van Valkenburgh alongside Ted Knight and Nancy Dussault in the fun family sitcom. Cornell, 72, who also appeared on other classic ’80s series like The Dukes of Hazzard, The Love Boat, and Quantum Leap, keeps up with fans and followers on social media and is still every bit the blonde beauty she was back in the ’80s.
Van Valkenburgh, 73, who played Jackie Rush for five seasons from 1980 to 1985, is also absolutely stunning these days. The actress, who has quite a cult following from her turn in the 1979 film The Warriors, took the ’90s by storm by appearing in several classic series like Quantum Leap, Chicago Hope, and Picket Fences.
The duo recently reunited for a fun photo caught by Cornell on her Instagram account. While she doesn’t mention when the shot was taken, it’s safe to say that the duo looks better than ever.
“My costar/BFF Deborah Van Valkenburgh, Dottie McQuown (our amazing hairdresser) and me at a reunion lunch for Too Close for Comfort #TooCloseforComfort,” Cornell captioned the photo.
What’s Deborah Van Valkenburgh Up to These Days?
Van Valkenburgh still regularly appears on TV series. She appeared in the CW series The Messengers, the 2019 TV movie Hidden in Plain Sight, and had a recurring role in the 2020 Hulu series Helstrom. She also makes regular Comic-Con appearances around the country with her fellow Warriors stars, since the film has such a prolific cult following. However, much of America still holds her in their hearts as Jackie Rush in Too Close for Comfort.
What’s Lydia Cornell Up to These Days?
Cornell hasn’t ruled out a potential Too Close for Comfort reboot. In July, she told Remind Magazine they’re working on putting it together.
“[My writing partner] Larry and I wrote a Too Close for Comfort reboot,” Cornell shared with the publication. “It’s going really well — centering around a younger generation and maybe having Baby Andrew becomes the Ted Knight (Henry Rush) character. We bring our kids into the house.”
Cornell is also an advocate for sobriety and has shared her journey in the hopes of helping others.
Sober since 1994, she says her journey is a “beautiful, incredible gift.”
“It is truly a miracle,” she told Fox News Digital in 2020. “And I hope my story can help others. If I could help one person overcome their struggles, then revealing my darkest moments is truly worth it.”
