With the end of September and the start of season in the Sarasota area approaching, we have multiple big names in this week’s concert picks installment. We start with a Puerto Rican rapper and end with a North Carolina country musician, both rising stars in their respective genres with millions of TikTok followers and monthly Spotify listeners to their names, each playing Sarasota shows.
Other notable acts visiting our area this week include a Blues Music Award-winning artist from South Florida, performing solo locally between touring nationally with his band and a celebrity, and a Nashville-based, Tampa-born singer playing a home state show. And if you want to keep it local, we have a Bradenton concert featuring multiple Sarasota-Manatee musical acts, too. Here are this week’s highlights. Event details are subject to change.

Strobes Event Center, a Sarasota venue that has hosted concerts featuring Latin musicians, will welcome Puerto Rican rapper Hades66 for a show Friday. Hades66 currently has more than eight million monthly Spotify listeners, with multiple songs of his including “Emociones,” “Háblame de Dinero” and “Lukeando” racking up several millions of streams. He’s also made a name for himself by appearing on other musicians’ tracks, including guesting alongside Puerto Rican rap superstar Anuel AA on remixes of Pressure 9X19’s “VVS Switch” and Jay Wheeler’s “Pacto” (with Hades66 also appearing on the original version of the latter song.) 8:30 p.m. Friday; Strobes Event Center, 3251 17th St., Sarasota; $72.38-$103.14; tickeri.com
Colleen Orender
Colleen Orender.
Tampa-born, now Nashville-based musician Colleen Orender will return to her home state for a show Friday at Fogartyville in Sarasota. Orender’s music blends pop, R&B, soul, blues and jazz in a way that recalls artists such as Amy Winehouse and Adele. That sensibility was well-captured by NPR, which aptly described her sound as “reminiscent of a smoky, late-night jazz club with a hint of James Bond,” and her artist photo, which shows her sporting vintage-style white gloves and a cigarette holder. 7 p.m. doors, 8 p.m. show Friday; Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center, 525 Kumquat Court, Sarasota; $30, $25 members, $15 students age 13 and up (sold out as of press time); 941-894-6469; fogartyville.org
Albert Castiglia
Albert Castiglia.
Bradenton restaurant Cottonmouth will welcome back South Florida blues-rock guitarist and singer-songwriter Albert Castiglia on Saturday. Castiglia is busy these days with his Blood Brothers project featuring fellow blues-rocker Mike Zito, winning last year’s Blues Music Award for Blues Rock Album for their self-titled debut, releasing their sophomore album “Help Yourself” this month, and touring with Bill Murray (yes, that Bill Murray.) Yet Castiglia remains successful as a solo artist, earning three Blues Music Awards nominations earlier this year for his latest album “Righteous Souls”: Song of the Year, Blues Rock Artist and Blues Rock Album. 7 p.m. Saturday; Cottonmouth Southern Soul Kitchen, 1114 12th St. W., Bradenton; 941-243-3735; facebook.com/cottonmouthsoul
Ending Apathy
Ending Apathy.
Oscura, also in Bradenton, will host this Saturday show headlined by Sarasota band Ending Apathy. The group describes its sound as Midwest emo (referring to the subgenre sparked by ’90s bands such as Cap’n Jazz, American Football, Braid and The Promise Ring, but hey, we’re sort of Florida’s Midwest too, right?), citing newer acts such as Mom Jeans, Modern Baseball and Tigers Jaw as additional influences. Sarasota electro-rock/synth-pop group MeteorEYES (whose members include Fabulous Arts Foundation founder/president/executive director Shannon Fortner), Gabe Hernandez and Emily Owen will also perform. 7 p.m. doors, 7:30 p.m. show Saturday; Oscura, 816 Manatee Ave. E., Bradenton; $10; oscura.live
Cooper Alan
Cooper Alan.
Big Top Live, along with local country music radio station 92.1 CTQ and its Young Guns of Country series, will present Cooper Alan in concert. Like many contemporary country musicians, the Winston-Salem, North Carolina performer has developed a fanbase largely through social media, with more than 11 million TikTok followers currently. Alan’s songs include the drinking and good times anthems “To the Bar” and “Plead the Fifth” (the latter’s chorus borrowing the melody of “Auld Lang Syne”), and he recently appeared on Miami singer Flo Rida’s country-rap single “Carrying the Club” alongside fellow country music young rising star Shaylen. 6 p.m. doors, 7 p.m. show Thursday, Sept. 18; Big Top Live, 975 Cattlemen Road, Sarasota; sold out as of press time; 941-371-2939; bigtoplive.com
