Tracee Ellis Ross brought Marc Jacobs‘ penchant for vibrant color to “Late Night With Seth Meyers” on Wednesday in New York City.
The “Every Brilliant Thing” Broadway star turned to the American designer’s spring 2027 ready-to-wear collection for her late-night look. Sheer styling and saturated color were the main design cues of the look, with deep purple tights paired with a maroon bodysuit featuring sheer long sleeves.

The styling had a distinctly ’90s feel, harkening back to the workout bodysuits of yore and the decade’s playful experimentation with color. Ross accessorized her look with a chunky, layered statement necklace in contrasting earthy tones. Black peep-toe heels completed Ross’ look. The actress has collaborated with stylist Karla Welch in the past.
Ross’ look made its debut during New York Fashion Week in late June. The collection was chock full of references to early 2000s and ’90s collections by fashion houses including Saint Laurent and Chanel, among others. Junya Watanabe’s spring 1996 sheer and slick nylon layers were also a reference point throughout, including in the look Ross sported for Wednesday’s late-night appearance.

“Each look, although daring in a playfully sexy way, also carried through spring’s ethos of offering his customer something a bit more commercial — in a good way,” Emily Mercer wrote in WWD’s review of the collection.
“Jacobs’ study, or rather lesson, in enlivening wardrobes with heightened colorblocking continued with a mix of brights against jewel tones — great hip-jutting croco structured miniskirts, PVC-fringed tiny tank dresses and plastic-y scoop tanks with sweet polka dot pleated skirts (a nod to his own spring 1998 and 2000 designs) — layered over those sheer knit and nylon base layers,” Mercer wrote.
