Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are a very wealthy couple, but most of that wealth is on Swift’s side. The singer, who is worth north of $1.6 billion dollars, has a lot more money than her soon-to-be husband, who is reportedly worth around $70 million or so. But it’s his finances that are making news right before the two tie the knot.
Why? Well, Kelce, who is a Cleveland Heights native, just bought a minority stake in the MLB Cleveland Guardians franchise. ESPN was first to report the news. Kelce also discussed the news with his brother Jason on their New Heights podcast.

“Everyone knows how much love I have for this city, so to have the opportunity to come back and join the Guardians’ ownership group is the coolest thing in the world,” Kelce is quoted in a news release from the Guardians. “I’ve always looked for ways to support and uplift my hometown, so I can’t wait to keep sharing the love and the passion I have for sports and this community as we look to bring a World Series title back to the Land.”
“Travis Kelce knows what it takes to win at the highest levels and he’s exemplified that throughout his playing career and in the way he shows up as a community leader and businessman,” a statement from Guardians Chairman and CEO Paul Dolan and team partner David Blitzer said. “He cares deeply for Cleveland and Northeast Ohio and is committed to supporting our mission of building out a world-class organization that helps uplift the communities we serve. It’s great to welcome Travis home and we know he’ll make a lasting impact here.”

News about Kelce’s new investment comes as people have started speculating about a possible prenup between the two. In a May 2026 interview with Page Six, Sarah Luetto, a partner at Blank Rome’s Matrimonial & Family Law Group in Los Angeles, suggested that the two could even include a clause that forbids them from discussing their marriage publicly in any prenup.
“Swift and Kelce may wish to include terms fostering confidentiality and privacy,” Luetto told the outlet. “This may include non-disparagement or non-disclosure terms related to their relationship.”
However, considering what Swift does for a living, there will probably be exceptions. “In Taylor’s case, she would likely not want to include provisions limiting her from singing about her relationship in songs, particularly since there is always so much speculation about the subjects of her songwriting.”
She also indicated the two will likely not merge their assets, even if they might pursue joint businesses together. “Given the complexities of their respective estates—and the lengths Swift has gone to in order to buy back her masters and protect her music catalog—it is likely that any prenuptial agreement would keep their respective estates entirely separate, regardless of any efforts made by either party to enhance the other’s estate during the marriage.”
