Travis Kelce proposed to Taylor Swift in August, but it’s something he’s been planning for months. On the Sept. 12 episode of the Pardon My Take podcast, host and Kelce pal Andrew Santino shared that Kelce said that he wanted to pop the question earlier this year.
“We had golfed together in like April or May, and yeah, he said he was doing it, but he didn’t say when,” Santino said. “But I don’t pry. We didn’t talk about it. … He’s brought something up about it, and then I never asked again.”
After Kelce got down on one knee, Santino FaceTimed with him and Swift to congratulate them. Interestingly, however, Santino doesn’t think he’ll make the guest list for the couple’s upcoming nuptials.
“I don’t think I got that invite. I’m not on that list, dude,” he said, adding, “Travis is my boy, I love him to death, [but] I highly doubt it. Maybe I’ll catch a bachelor party invite.”
Kelce and Swift got engaged after recording an episode of the New Heights podcast, marking Swift’s official first podcast appearance. The couple, who has been dating since 2023, shared the news in a joint Instagram post that quickly went viral.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” Swift captioned the Aug. 26 post, which consisted of a number of pictures from the engagement location — a transformed garden in the backyard of Kelce’s home in Leawood, Kansas, per Page Six.
No word on when Kelce and Swift may be tying the knot, though a source told People magazine that the celebration will be “private.”
