Truro City’s owners have sold an 8.33% stake in the National League club to an American investor.
Dawn Sports and Entertainment LLC (DSE) owns the newly formed Oklahoma United FC, which plays in the National Premier Soccer League.
It is the first significant stake that Canadian-based owners Ontario Inc have sold since buying the club two years ago.
“This is only the first step of what we believe will become a defining partnership,” DSE chief executive Abdullah Ashraf said in a statement, external.
“We see enormous potential in Truro City not just as a football club, but as a regional institution that deserves the structure, investment, and ambition needed to rise.
“Our plans will focus on shifting momentum quickly and then prioritising targeted investment into infrastructure, training environments, operational standards, and long-term facilities the club needs to grow sustainably.”
Truro City won National League South in an exciting title race at the end of last season, earning promotion to the fifth tier for the first time in their history.
The Cornish club are currently bottom of the National League having lost their past five matches.
“Abdullah and the crew from DSE are focused on helping us build on what we’ve started at Truro City,” club chairman Eric Perez said.
“They believe in the club, and first and foremost they believe in Cornwall as a place, its people, and culture.
“I have no doubt the future looks bright for football in Cornwall, and DSE will be a great addition to the Truro City family.”
