Bobby Flay, 60, is one proud papa! The longtime Food Network star’s 29-year-old daughter, Sophie Flay, celebrated a major career milestone on Wednesday, Oct. 29, and Bobby took to the comments of her post with lots of praise.
“It’s official!!” Sophie wrote while sharing the exciting news on Instagram. “Honored to stay in the Disney/ABC family and join ABC News as a correspondent and anchor for World News Now and GMA First Look, based in New York. Thank you, Los Angeles, for an amazing 11 years!” Sophie has served as a general assignment reporter at ABC7 in Los Angeles since March 2019, and was an intern for the program before that.

Bobby couldn’t contain his pride, writing, “Proud as can be. Your work ethic and your desire to learn from your mentors has put you in this wonderful place of opportunity and importance. It’s a parent’s dream.”
Many of Bobby’s longtime friends and Food Network collaborators also sent their love, with frequent Beat Bobby Flay guest Katie Lee Biegel sharing three clapping emojis, chef Antonia Lofaso writing, “You are a force,” new Bobby’s Triple Threat titan Ayesha Nurdjaja writing, “Congratulations!!!” and Halloween Wars judge Aarti Sequeira adding, “Woah!!! That’s huge!!! Congratulations Sophie!!!”

Bobby is likely extra-excited because the new role will mean a move from the West Coast to New York City for Sophie. Bobby has lived in the same NYC apartment for over a decade, and he’s probably excited to live closer to his daughter.
Despite the distance, the duo seems to put a lot of effort into spending time together. Just one month earlier, the duo teamed up with Bobby’s girlfriend Brooke Williamson to try their hand at Celebrity Family Feud— and ended up winning $25,000 for charity!

The father-daughter pair even launched a podcast together in 2021 called Always Hungry on iHeartRadio. “You’ll get a peek into our relationship and we’ll talk about things like where we get our recipes and whether or not people are still dressing up for dinner,” Sophie shared at the time. “We laugh a lot!”
