DETROIT — The Kansas City Royals hit solo home runs in the seventh and ninth innings to come back and beat the Detroit Tigers 3-2 on Saturday afternoon at Comerica Park.
The Tigers (50-55) had their three-game winning streak snapped. They will wrap up the four-game series against the Royals (44-62) on Sunday.

Tigers rookie Hao-Yu Lee extended his hitting streak to 10 games with an RBI double in the second inning.
He accounted for the Tigers’ second run with a solo shot in the fourth off Royals starter Michael Wacha.
Tigers starter Casey Mize allowed just a run on three hits in six innings. He struck out three without a walk. The Royals had some well-struck balls early in the game, and were able to manufacture a run with the help of a wild pitch in the second inning, but Mize finished his outing by retiring 13 of 14 batters and left with a 2-1 lead.
The Royals mounted a comeback against the Tigers’ bullpen.

Salvador Perez led off the seventh by greeting reliever Kyle Finnegan with a 401-foot shot to left field. It was his 15th homer of the season and the 318th of his career, moving him past George Brett for the most in Royals history.
In the ninth, Nick Loftin drove a fastball from Jacob Waguespack into the left-field seats to put the Royals ahead.
The Tigers collected a pair of singles in the bottom of the ninth, but former Tigers closer Alex Lange entered for the Royals and struck out Lee and Matt Vierling before getting pinch-hitter Spencer Torkelson to pop out to end the game.

Lefty Framber Valdez (5-7, 4.57 ERA) will pitch for the Tigers. Right-hander Luinder Avila (5-3, 4.86) will start for Kansas City.
Valdez is coming off an awful outing on July 21 in Chicago that matched the shortest of his career. Valdez faced 10 batters and retired only two of them.
