Tyla didn’t just showcase her professionalism on stage, but also her genuine care for her fans after briefly pausing while performing her song “Water” in New York City.
The 23-year-old was among the performers for the 2025 Global Citizen Festival along with Mariah the Scientist, Ayra Starr, Camilo, Elyanna and headlined by Shakira and Cardi B.
On Saturday, Central Park was filled with excited fans as the Grammy winner captivated them with her sultry moves and powerful vocals.
However, while performing one of her hit songs, “Water,” the South African singer stopped midway through her number after spotting a distressed fan.
In a video shared by Access Hollywood, the R&B artist tried to get the staff’s attention as she pointed toward the audience.
“I think someone needs help here,” she said and asked, “Are you guys okay?”
Tyla tried to continue with her song but asked the band to stop once again to check on a group of fans.
“I think they need help over there,” she said, pausing for a moment of silence as she scanned the crowd.
She felt a wave of relief as soon as she saw that the fan was okay.
The award-winning singer then turned to the audience and asked if they wanted to sing “Water” again or finish the song, to which the fans enthusiastically cheered to perform it again.
The Instagram post garnered praise and admiration from fans on social media, applauding Tyla for her attentiveness and warm-hearted concern for her audience.
“That was awesome!! We all cheered when she did that,” a commenter said.
“Beautiful lady. Class act,” a user added.
“And she’s live,” a follower pointed out.
Others took a swipe at the 34-year-old rapper who had a similar incident but failed to stop and check on his fans.
“Travis Scott rlly changed concerts LMSMSMSNA,” another pointed out.
The same goes for a different user who said, “Travis Scott would never!!!”
Apart from joining the star-studded show in New York, Tyla is set for her first Asian tour in November.
TheWe Wanna Party Tour will kick off in Tokyo, Japan, followed by Bangkok, Thailand and Hong Kong. She will continue the tour in December to Manila and will conclude in Singapore.
This will be her second concert tour in support of her latest mixtape We Wanna Party.
