The power of Tyler Perry was strong enough to topple Wednesday’s impressive run. Perry’s Beauty in Black finished in first place in Nielsen’s Top 10 Overall Streaming chart for the week of September 15.
The second season of the Netflix drama, which debuted in the charts in the No.2 position a week earlier, earned 1.354 billion viewing minutes. It continues to be a big draw among Black audiences, who make up more than half of the show’s audience (52%), and has seen widespread appeal with Hispanic audiences, as their viewership representation more than doubled from 14% to 31%.
According to Nielsen Streaming Content Ratings, three titles surpassed the billion-viewing minutes mark, all of which belonged to Netflix. The streamer accounted for six titles in the chart, one of which had shared distribution rights.
The mini-series Black Rabbit from Netflix finished in second place with 1.234 billion minutes viewed. The Adults 50+ demo led the way in viewing the series, contributing 67% of the total watch time.
After a dominant stay at the top, Netflix’s Wednesday fell two spots to third place with 1.022 billion viewing minutes. It was followed by another Netflix title, KPop Demon Hunters, which slid one spot down as it accumulated 828 million minutes viewed.
At No. 5 is the first non-Netflix title in the chart, with Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty having 776 million viewing minutes for the week of September 15.
Leading the bottom half of the chart is SpongeBob SquarePants from Paramount+ with 774 million minutes viewed. It was followed by Disney+’s Bluey, which dropped by one spot with 753 million viewing minutes.
In eighth place with 728 million viewing minutes was Netflix’s Ice Road: Vengeance. The Netflix/Paramount+ shared title S.W.A.T. took ninth place with 727 million minutes viewed.
Remaining in 10th place was Hulu’s Bob’s Burgers, cooking up 673 million viewing minutes for the concluded week.
