The 2024 crime drama, starring Gino Anthony Pesi (“Shades of Blue”) and Kristen Renton (“Sons of Anarchy”) as newly teamed NYPD officers, became a surprise hit on Paramount+, opening at No. 2 on the streaming platform despite its modest budget and remaining in the top 10 for more than 20 weeks.
“We were positively surprised by the great success of ‘First Shift’ on Paramount+ and Showtime, as well as the strong fan response,” said Boll. “So we decided to produce two more movies, which also allows us to tell a wider story arc, which hopefully will lead to a ‘First Shift’ series.”
