Last week on The Challenge: Vets & New Threats, the rivalry between Olivia and Johnny Bananas seemed to have the seven-time champ cornered. Luckily, a last-minute medical DQ spared him from becoming the “Hangnail,” and he continued clawing on for his life in the game. But it seemed that it was inevitable for the legend to wind up in the elimination arena, resulting in one of the biggest “David vs. Goliath” matchups in recent memory.

Who was eliminated on The Challenge: Vets & New Threats Season 41 tonight?
Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio
Going into this week’s episode, the veterans had the numbers and were eager to keep that majority. The exception, however, was Olivia Kaiser, who led a UK-centric coalition to get revenge on Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio for his actions last season. While he won the first battle in the premiere, evidently, he did not claim victory in the war. Though he avoided becoming the Hangnail last episode, the ghost of elimination came for him anyway. Difficulty with a Sudoku puzzle had Bananas getting the rare last place in a daily, sending him in against easy house vote Gabe Wai. And, yet again, in a battle between vet and new threat, the new threat prevailed. Despite all of his experience across 20+ seasons, Gabe’s strength and speed left Bananas quite literally at the end of his rope, as he was shockingly taken out.

This week’s daily was simple, yet challenging. The pairs had to enter a maze of shipping containers, find and solve a Sudoku, then make their way out. While several duos struggled to get the numbers together – and making Challenge fans flashback to the controversial ending of USA Season 1 – Ben and Michaela’s brains prevailed, beating out Adrienne and CT to win safety. They chose to put Derek Chavez up for the vote, a move purposely done to have the house unanimously send house pariah Gabe into elimination.
