Victoria Beckham’s pals slam ‘disgusting’ Brooklyn dance claims in astonishing defence

Victoria Beckham’s friends have insisted the Beckhams are ‘playful, soppy parents’ and should not be punished for it

Victoria Beckham’s close friends have slammed allegations about her ‘inappropriate’ wedding dance with Brooklyn – insisting she’s nothing but a ‘doting, tactile mother’.

The Spice Girl star’s close circle have been left furious by Brooklyn’s outburst and said there was ‘nothing wrong’ with how the two danced at the multi-million dollar Palm Beach wedding in 2022.

As fans learned this week, Victoria was called to the stage at the reception of her son’s wedding by Latin pop sensation Marc Anthony, who has been a close friend of the Beckhams year for years. Victoria and Brooklyn they had a brief dance to salsa-inspired hit, I Need to Know.

Brooklyn put his hands on his mum’s hips and Victoria touched her son’s neck. Bride Nicola Peltz was so outraged she walked out of her own wedding.

This week Brooklyn publicly accused his mother of ‘hijacking’ his first dance and leaving him ‘mortified’ with her dance moves. His bombshell statement sparked an internet frenzy with fans reimagining Victoria grinding on her eldest.

It has been Victoria’s turn to feel the burn of embarrassment, but close pals have now spoken out to defend the fashion designer – who has been known to let loose at family parties.

As one friend told the Mail on Sunday: “Why shouldn’t Victoria be tactile with her son? She is tactile with all of her children and she always has been. She has nothing to apologise for, yet she has been vilified for that dance for almost four years now and that is disgusting. The Beckhams are a tactile family.

“David still kisses the boys when they come home – they have always been close and cuddly – and Brooklyn has been tactile, too. It was authentic. David and Victoria are young, soppy parents and yet last week she was shamed for it.

“It is deeply unfair and upsetting. There was nothing inappropriate about the dance. Nicola just didn’t like that Brooklyn was dancing with his mother so she ran off crying. It wasn’t about how she was dancing – it was to an upbeat, dancey salsa song, not exactly a Marvin Gaye love song, for goodness’ sake. Why would you cry about that?”

Brooklyn’s bride Nicola was said to have been so upset by the moment that she stormed off, quickly followed by her siblings and mother.

Guests have claimed that Nicola actually had her first dance with Brooklyn earlier in the night to an Elvis Presley song and the socialite turned actress also had a dance with her father Nelson during the reception.

Nicola and Brooklyn have gone to ground since the bombshell six-page Instagram post was released on Monday, only breaking cover with a loved up display of solidarity on the beach near their home.

Brooklyn’s explosive post was the first time anyone in the Beckham clan has spoken on record about the feud which kicked off last year with the amateur chef skipped a series of family parties.

Following Brooklyn Beckham’s explosive social media post and his statement explaining how he felt ‘humiliated’ when his mum, Victoria Beckham, ‘danced very inappropriately on me’, This Morning’s Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary spoke to wedding guest DJ Fat Tony to find out what really happened.

The star, who performed at the wedding, said, “I was away on honeymoon and it’s literally been overtaken by the Beckham saga. Yes, I was the DJ at the wedding. It wasn’t a one day wedding, it was a three day wedding. I did the welcome party, then I did the wedding and then I did the brunch on the Sunday which was the most awkward part of it all.

“Everything that had gone on at the wedding night, was discussed amongst the guests the next morning. But the reason I’m on here is literally, I’ve been inundated with thousands of messages on Instagram alone and why I’m here is to talk about the word ‘inappropriate’ and what we deem inappropriate.”

When asked what was Victoria doing, Tony replied, “There was no slutdropping, there was no black cat PVC catsuits, there was no Spice Girl action. What it was, was – and why I said it was inappropriate as well – was because it was the timing. What happened was, basically, Mark Anthony was performing on stage, he then called Brooklyn onto stage. Brooklyn went on to the stage, and the next minute everyone’s expecting Nicola to go up and do the first dance, and then Mark asked for the most beautiful woman in the room to come to the stage – and then he says ‘Victoria, come to the stage’. So Victoria is by the stage, she goes onto the stage, and of course at that point Brooklyn is literally, like, devastated because he thought he was going to do his first dance with his wife, then Nicola leaves the room crying her eyes out.

“Brooklyn is stuck there on stage, and they do this dance, and Mark Anthony says ‘put your hands on your mothers hips’ and it was a Latin thing, and the whole situation was really awkward for everyone in the room…”

He added, “I’ve done an awful lot of Beckham parties in the past, and they are a very dancing close knit family and love to dance, right? So you know, what we deem as ‘inappropriate’ is not how Brooklyn feels. This is all about how Brooklyn feels. If he feels that it was inappropriate and awkward, it was inappropriate and awkward.”
