Nov. 17 (UPI) — Rosalia says her love of her learning motivated her to create songs in 13 different languages on her new album Lux, which dropped earlier this month.
The singer, 33, discussed the project, and performed a song from the album, on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Sunday.
“I love learning. I love learning things, so I wanted to learn different languages since long ago. I’ve been practicing in Duolingo, you know. But sometimes, I’m like, ‘I need to do more,'” she told Fallon.
“While I was figuring out what the concept was — which I was curious about learning from other cultures, learning like how spirituality can be understood in many different places of the world in different ways — I was learning from different saints from all across the world,” she said of her process. “Depending on the story that I wanted to reference, I would use a language or another.”
Rosalia also took to the stage to perform “La Perla” in Spanish. She appeared in a short, strapless white dress with a short tulle train.

“You’re finally in therapy,” she sings. “Going to a psychologist and a psychiatrist, but what’s it worth if you lie more than you talk? They’ll build a monument to your dishonesty.”
Other songs on the album include “Sexo, Violencia y Llantas,” “Reliquia,” “Divinize,” “Porcelana,” “Mio Cristo Piange Diamanti,” “Berghain,” “Muno Nueo,” “De Madruga,” “Dios Es Un Stalker,” “La Yugular,” Sauvignon Blanc,” “La Rumba Del Perdon,” “Memoria” and “Magnolias.”
