Weekend guide: top events and concerts in Sacramento

Looking for something to do this weekend in Sacramento? Here’s your guide to events around the region — from art walks to live music and big-name concerts.

Expect warm, sunny days and cool evenings across the capital region, with temperatures reaching the 70s during the day and dipping to the low 50s at night, according to National Weather Service office in Sacramento.

Whether you’re heading to a daytime gathering or planning a night out, here are highlights from this weekend’s lineup of art, sports and entertainment in the Sacramento area.

DJ Pauly D at Ace of Spades

DJ Pauly D, best known from the MTV reality show “Jersey Shore,” will perform a live DJ set at Ace of Spades, 1417 R St. Doors open at 8 p.m. Friday, with the show starting at 9 p.m.

He signed a three-album deal with 50 Cent’s G-Unit and G-Note Records in 2011. His singles include “Night of My Life” featuring Dash, “Back to Love” with Jay Sean, and “Silver and Gold” featuring James Kaye.

The show is all-ages. Tickets start at $53, according to Ticketmaster.

October Midtown Second Saturday Art Walk

Second Saturdays in midtown highlights local artists, live music, culinary arts and art gallery exhibitions.

The schedule begins with the Midtown Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The free curated art walk runs from 2 to 8 p.m., overlapping with the open-air art market at 20th and K streets from 3 to 7 p.m.

Mahogany Urban Poetry Series featuring Natachi

Mahogany Urban Poetry Series will host a spoken word session featuring Natachi Mez and other poets at 7 p.m. Saturday at All City Homes, 3401 2nd Ave. in Oak Park.

Mez, a two-time finalist at the College Union Poetry Slam Invitational, uses spoken word to deliver joy and community while fostering self-expression. The Nigerian-American writer and performer is a Sacramento native who has performed internationally and led workshops for an array of groups, including incarcerated youth. She is known for developing the live show “Fire: Breathing in the Wild” and her one-person show, “Soak”.

Tickets are available for $10, plus a $2.51 processing fee, on Eventbrite.

Big Block Party ‘25 ft. E-40 & Too $hort with Warren G, Tha Dogg Pound & Luniz

It’s a West Coast hip hop and R&B party at The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort, 1200 Athens Ave. in Lincoln, with the Big Block Party ’25 presented by Sacramento radio station V101.1 FM. Showtime is 7 p.m. Saturday.

The lineup includes West Coast hip-hop legends E-40, Too $hort, Warren G, Tha Dogg Pound and Luniz. E-40 will bring hits like “Sprinkle Me” and “Tell Me When To Go.” Too $hort fans can expect “Blow the Whistle,” while Warren G is set to perform “Regulate.”

Tha Dogg Pound’s Kurupt and Daz Dillinger will reunite for “Let’s Play House,” and expect a crowd surge when Luniz drops “I Got 5 On It.”

The show is 21 and older. Anyone under 21 must be accompanied by someone 21 or older. Tickets start at $143 on Ticketmaster.

Breakaway Music Festival

The Breakaway Music Festival brings its two-day tour to Sacramento this weekend at Cal Expo, 1600 Exposition Blvd. The festival runs from 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Headliners include Tiësto, Martin Garrix, Elderbrook, Austin Millz and Louis the Child.

General admission for one day starts at $99; a two-day pass starts at $120, plus fees.

Playboi Carti at Golden 1 Center

Playboi Carti is bringing his Antagonist tour to the capital region when he takes the stage at Golden 1 Center in downtown Sacramento during his concert Sunday.

The rapper released his album “I Am Music” earlier this year with 30 tracks. It features collaborations with Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Future, Kendrick Lamar, and others — a leap from his early Soundcloud days with tracks like “Fetti.”

The rapper has come a long way from his Soundcloud days with songs like “Fetti”. Now the artist is set to rip the stage as he performs in front of his Northern California fans.

Doors open at 6 p.m. The concert begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are starting at $46 on Ticketmaster.

Other weekend events to consider around the Sacramento area:

Junior Marvin and The Legendary Wailers are performing at the Harris Center, 10 College Parkway in Folsom. Tickets start at $57. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Los Tigres del Norte band is performing at Golden 1 Center at 8 p.m. Friday. Tickets start at $56.

Visit a pumpkin patch around the Sacramento area with the family, Yelp reviewers recently listed the five favorite patches around the capital region.

Enjoy free Halloween events in Sacramento from Halloween bingo, which requires registration, and a “Howl-o-Ween Party” welcoming families and their dogs. These events are this Friday only.

Safe and Super Halloween at Fairytale Town, 3901 Land Park Drive, is happening all weekend from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Gates close at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 for nonmembers and $12 for members.

UC Davis football takes on Northern Arizona (4-2) at UC Davis Health Stadium in Davis. The game begins at 4 p.m. Saturday. The Aggies come into the game with a 4-1 record looking to extend their win streak to four games. Tickets start at $18.

Mixtape Day Party is hosting its final day party of the season before daylight saving time sets the sun at 5 p.m. Saturday’s event runs from 5 to 10 p.m. and features a 1990s–2000s attire theme. Tickets are $15, plus a $2.51 Eventbrite fee.

New Glory Craft Brewery is celebrating its 13th anniversary with food and beer specials, live music and entertainment. The brewery, located at 8251 Alpine Ave., is open from noon to 9 p.m.

Streets Pub & Grub will celebrate its 11th anniversary with a party beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday. There will be live music, karaoke and food and drink deals. Located at 1804 J St., Streets is open from noon to 2 a.m.

The 48th annual Sacramento Jewish Food faire is happening from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in East Sacramento. The event features traditional Jewish food options, live music, vendors and a wine garden. The free event takes place at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center, 6151 H St.
