It: Welcome to Derry Episode 5, titled “Neibolt Street,” witnessed the return of the terrifying clown, Pennywise. In the episode, Leroy relocates his family to a safe base. The Tribal keepers continue to think about the ways to keep the anger in town at bay. Meanwhile, the military goes to Neibolt Street, and the kids embark on a mission into the sewers. There, they come across Matty’s body, which later delivers a shocking surprise.
Why doesn’t Pennywise attack Lilly in It: Welcome to Derry Episode 5?
Pennywise doesn’t attack Lilly as she has a glowing dagger right beside her in the water that weakens him. As he can’t get near it, Lilly picks up the weapon instead, but he backs off.
The kids head to the sewer, standing at its entrance while taking pills. Despite the pill’s slowing them down and making them feel weird, they continue to move forward with Matty in the lead. Suddenly, they began hearing voices, but soon after came across Matty’s corpse, who later transforms into Pennywise. There remain two more bodies that appear on the pole as well. Continuing to horrify kids, Pennywise goes after them. While most kids ran away, Lilly, unfortunately, was separated and was left behind to face the horror.
Hanlon and Pauly hear kids screaming; the former remains prepared to shoot, but the latter realizes that it’s Will and steps in front of him. He gets hit by the bullet, with Hanlon regretting his actions. However, a dying Pauly reassures that it’s okay and to let his sacrifice count. Leroy then takes his body and also asks the kids to run.
Lilly, separated from the group, gets terrified and cries. No one reaches out to help her. Pennywise eventually finds her and begins to mock her for not being able to save Matty. He changes into her father to torment her, and then later gets back to his original form. Then, he comes close and is all set to kill her, but freezes eventually after seeing the glowing dagger beside her. He fails at harming her, given that the dagger prevented him from moving and eventually weakened him.
