Crocodile Dundee skyrocketed actress Linda Kozlowski to fame 40 years ago in the 1980s, transforming the Connecticut local’s life virtually overnight.

Now 68 years old, Linda was just 27 years old when she was cast in the smash hit as Sue Charlton, a reporter hired to interview Mick ‘Crocodile’ Dundee before falling in love with him and becoming the film franchise’s leading lady.

Starring alongside Paul Hogan, now 86, who played the fictional Australian crocodile hunter, Linda appeared in all three films and quickly became a Hollywood icon for her portrayal of Sue.

While their careers blossomed, so too did their romantic feelings for one another, and in 1990, the pair of on-screen lovers decided to tie the knot in real life during a ceremony in Byron Bay, Australia, at the mansion Paul built for his wife, Possum Creek.

Despite their characters’ never-ending love story, in reality, Paul and Linda’s relationship endured a different fate, and in 2014, they filed for divorce after welcoming one son together, Chance.

A life away from the spotlight

After finding fame on the Crocodile Dundee set, Linda appeared in a handful of films and TV shows, including Pass the Ammo, Almost an Angel, Backstreet Justice, and Village of the Damned.

However, she revealed that she felt she was being typecast following her time playing Sue and decided to retire from acting in 2001.

In 1988, she told the Los Angeles Times: “After Crocodile Dundee, I turned down lots of stuff, most of it where I’d play the girlfriend of some funny man.”

The star further addressed her choice to ditch acting and her life in Hollywood with Scripps Howard News Service in 2001. Linda said: “These straight-to-video schlocky films I was getting were giving me an ulcer, basically because I was the only one on the set that cared about anything.

“I’d say, ‘Well, this scene doesn’t make sense.’ [They would say,] ‘Aw, so what, just say the lines.’ [And] I thought, ‘This isn’t fun anymore. This is not why I studied, it’s not what I love.’ Between that and my biological clock, I decided to give it all away.”

Linda’s two new loves

When she stepped away from acting, the entertainment industry, and her famous ex-husband, Linda discovered two new loves of her life – both romantically and creatively.

Meeting through friends, the mother-of-one found love again with a Moroccan tour guide and location scout named Moulay Hafid Baba. The couple got married in 2017 after they started dating one another in 2014, following the spark of a connection during her holiday to Marrakech.

She later launched a Marrakech-based company called ‘Dream My Destiny’, with her new spouse, which provides tours for tourists and location scouting for films. Her work means she splits her time between Los Angeles and Morocco.

According to the Daily Mail, the couple purchased a $2 million newly renovated single-story, four-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Ojai.

Speaking about her new life, she revealed in 2014: “Paul is very famous and I lived for a long time in his shadow. I feel good now to be out on my own and be doing my own things.

“My partner Baba really knows Morocco like the back of his hand and combine that with my sense of what’s happening now. What’s hip, what’s trendy, what do people want… What do the ladies want! I have a sense for that being an actress and traveler.

“So when you put us together we are really on top of the pulse of Morocco,” she added.
