King Charles and his younger brother Andrew reportedly never had a very warm relationship. But the latest revelations about Andrew’s role in the Epstein scandal, and his arrest for suspicion of misconduct in public office, have left the King little choice but to put some real distance between himself and Andrew, for the sake of the monarchy. There are, after all, already enough uncomfortable questions about how long the institution protected Andrew that the king would love to avoid.
And part of that is now avoiding him like the plague. According to Page Six the king is snubbing Andrew, despite the fact that he’s staying at Wood Farm in Sandringham, which isn’t that far from Marsh Farm, where Andrew resides. Charles was reportedly at Wood Farm for a UK bank holiday in the last week of May, but the two did not see each other.

Ironically, Andrew temporarily stayed at Wood Farm while his home at Marsh Farm was being renovated.
King Charles released a statement right after his brother’s arrest in February, saying, “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.”
He added, “In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”
RadarOnline had reported earlier this year that the King has decided not to meet with Andrew for fear that a private encounter could bring with it too much media attention. This isn’t the first time Charles has been at Sandringham but did not see his brother, though it is the closest they’ve been since Andrew was stripped of his titles and evicted from Royal Lodge.
“The King understands better than anyone how quickly even the smallest gesture can be magnified when it involves the royal family. If he were seen visiting Andrew – even privately – it would immediately become the dominant headline and reignite the entire controversy,” a royal source said.
“In the current climate, any face-to-face meeting would almost certainly be interpreted by the public as a show of solidarity, whether that was the intention or not.”
And the King won’t risk that. “Charles is therefore approaching the situation with extreme caution. His focus is on preventing the story from escalating further and shielding the monarchy from additional reputational damage.”
“That means avoiding situations where photographs could be taken, details could leak, or the meeting itself could be used to suggest the palace is rallying behind Andrew during a sensitive legal process.”
The Thames Valley Police recently announced that Andrew was being investigated not just for misconduct in public office but also for potential sex crimes.
