The semifinal round of voting to determine Elvis Presley’s best song has come to a close, and we’re down to just two tunes.
As part of the recent Elvis Week festivities, The Commercial Appeal decided to turn to you, our readers/Elvis fans, to determine the top track by the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Adopting a March Madness-style competition to determine Elvis’ best track, we started with 32 songs facing off in randomly generated matchups. The first several rounds saw some close battles, while the quarterfinals generated rather more lopsided wins. The semifinals continued that trend with a couple runaway winners.

Here’s how the semifinal round played out.
“Can’t Help Falling in Love” more than doubled the vote total of “Are You Lonesome Tonight.”
ADVERTISEMENT“Suspicious Minds” scored an impressive, though not quite as dramatic, margin of victory against “Love Me Tender.”

The two winning songs will now face off in the finals. Finals voting will open up on Aug. 25 and will close at noon Aug. 28. You can vote up to once per hour.
The winning song will be announced Aug. 29 and will be featured in a story at CommercialAppeal.com and in an upcoming print edition.
