It’s official! Strictly Come Dancing is finally returning to our screens this weekend, with the launch show airing on Saturday night (20 September), but what time is the episode airing?
Following the announcement in August of this year’s cast of celebrities competing on the show, this weekend we will finally find out which professional dancer each celebrity will be partnered with for the duration of the season. It’s a major part of each celebrity’s Strictly journey and so of course we need an entire episode dedicated to finding out these new pairings.
Every episode of Strictly Come Dancing varies on what time it airs and so this is everything you need to know about what time the launch show is on this weekend.
What time is the Strictly Come Dancing 2025 launch show on TV?
The Strictly Come Dancing 2025 launch show will air on Saturday 20 September at 6:40pm BST on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. This is the only episode of Strictly that is pre-recorded ahead of time, with filming having taken place on 10 September, with all other shows going out live.
The episode will air after the BBC News and run for nearly two hours finishing at 8:30pm BST, and will be followed by Michael McIntyre’s 25th Year Stand-Up Special.
If you don’t catch the episode live, it will be uploaded to BBC iPlayer shortly after.
What will happen on the Strictly Come Dancing 2025 launch show?
The main point of the launch show is to reveal which professional dancer each Strictly celebrity has been paired up with. The revelation is usually done in a pre-recorded video where we see the professional surprise the celebrity in somewhere that if meaningful to them.

The episode will also see a musical performance by Jessie J and last year’s winners Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell will return to the Strictly floor to dance together once again.
