Jimmy Kimmel is returning to late night after a six-day suspension that shook up ABC’s lineup. Here’s the exact return date, the time slot, and what viewers in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware should know about whether their ABC stations will carry it.
When Is Jimmy Kimmel coming back?
ABC confirmed that Jimmy Kimmel Live! will return on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025, after being pulled from the air for nearly a week. The show had been off since Sept. 17, replaced with reruns and alternate programming in the 11:35 p.m. Eastern slot.
What time is Jimmy Kimmel on?
The late-night program is back in its usual time slot: 11:35 p.m. Eastern Time; 10:35 p.m. Central Time; 11:35 p.m. Pacific Time (West Coast feed after local news)
The “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” suspension followed remarks Kimmel made on his Sept. 15 broadcast about the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
In his monologue, Kimmel said, “many in MAGA land are working very hard to capitalize on the murder of Charlie Kirk … desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”
At the time, federal investigators had not established any ideological motive for suspect Tyler Robinson. Critics, including FCC Chair Brendan Carr, blasted Kimmel’s remarks as irresponsible and misleading, and major affiliate groups such as Nexstar and Sinclair Broadcast Group announced they would preempt the show.
ABC responded by suspending Kimmel “indefinitely,” though the hiatus ultimately lasted six days
It’s not yet clear if Nexstar or Sinclair will preempt the show. In New Jersey, Delaware and the Philadelphia region, the ABC stations are ABC-owned, but parts of Pennsylvania are served by affiliate stations owned and operated by Nexstar or Sinclair.
Kimmel, on air since 2003, is one of the longest-running late-night hosts.
