One reason audiences love Slow Horses so much is the fact that the Apple TV+ thriller has come out with a new season every year since debuting two seasons in 2022, and it’s already renewed through season seven. “It’s a testament to the show, but also how we respect the viewers,” actor Christopher Chung, who portrays Roddy Ho, says. “Apple have been so insightful in commissioning so far ahead of anything else and allowing the audience to grow, and allowing the audience to have that loyalty to the show.”
In recent years, Slow Horses has found an ever bigger audience. “The first and second season were a real slow burn, the people who watched it were really into it and they definitely binged it,” says Chung. “I didn’t expect it to kind of explode the way that it has passed the last two seasons. It’s been really lovely to know that the viewership has grown really organically.”
That wider viewership makes Chung “anxious,” he jokes. “It just means that there’s more people watching me!” He clarifies, “But it is lovely. The more people that come up to me on the street and say that how much they love the show, or more likely what I get a lot of the time is people coming up to me saying, ‘You are such an asshole in that show. I think you’re great!’ Which is really lovely too—and it means that I’m doing my job, but it also means that the viewership is growing and that’s happening more on a regular basis now.”
