Former FOX29 “Good Day Philadelphia” anchor Sheinelle Jones will return to her job as co-host of NBC’s “TODAY Show” later this week after a months-long hiatus.
Here’s when you can catch Sheinelle Jones’ return to the “TODAY Show” and the reason why she stepped away.
When will Sheinelle Jones return to the ‘TODAY Show’?
NBC confirmed Sheinelle Jones will return to the ”TODAY Show” to cohost the third hour on Friday, Sept. 5. The long-running morning news and features program airs at 7 a.m. on NBC.
“She will share a deeply personal interview with Savannah Guthrie, in which she opens up about how she and her children are grieving the loss of their father, why she calls her experience a ‘beautiful nightmare’ and her message of hope for anyone facing their own struggles,” read the show’s announcement. “It will be an emotional homecoming for Sheinelle, who said in January that she would be taking time off due to a family health matter.”
Why did Sheinelle Jones leave the TODAY Show?
Sheinelle Jones’ husband of 17 years, Uche Ojeh, 45, died in May from an aggressive form of brain cancer. She has been off the show since.
“There are no words for the pain we feel for Sheinelle and their three young children. Uche was an incredible person,” Savannah Guthrie told viewers May 23, according to NBC. “We all loved him. And so we want to take a moment to tell you more about the remarkable man who was Sheinelle’s perfect partner in life.”
