Who is “Carla’s Song” about?
While speaking about the new album with Zane Lowe, Harry opened up on the song’s inspiration, saying “Carla’s Song” is about one of him friends, named Carla, who inspired him to write the song after they spoke about music at a house party. Apparently, he was waiting with Carla at a friend’s house to head to an after party, and she was speaking about discovering Paul Simon, one half of Simon and Garfunkel.
As Harry recalled, “I then played her ‘Cathy’s Song,’ which is my favorite Simon and Garfunkel song, and that’s why it’s called ‘Carla’s Song.'”
Harry went onto add how significant the track is for the album, explaining, “Carla kind of just became the most important part of the record to me. It is a song that answered so many questions.”
So, who is Carla?
As for who the real Carla is, well, Harry currently doesn’t follow anyone on Instagram called Carla. This could be because she doesn’t have Instagram or Harry is wanting to protect her from the limelight. Either way we know she is one of his close friends.
This isn’t the first time Harry has written a song with a woman’s name in it. In Harry’s House, one of the most moving tracks is a song called “Matilda,” which Harry has revealed is inspired by someone in his life, but that he has wrapped their story up with the fictional tale of Matilda from Roald Dahl’s children’s book Matilda.
