Mr. Fantasy, Skittles team up for FUEG-HOLE scavenger hunt
Skittles and internet personality Mr. Fantasy are teaming up for a scavenger hunt centered around the candy brand’s Gummies Fuego.
Will the real Mr. Fantasy please stand up?
It has been speculated that “Riverdale” star KJ Apa and the rising musician Mr. Fantasy are the same person (despite their polar opposite looks) after the latter skyrocketed to internet fame in late 2025.
Apa recently took to social media following Mr. Fantasy’s May 1 music video, which featured several of Apa’s colleagues and friends. In the video, Apa called Mr. Fantasy a “thief” and accused him of stealing his image.
So, what’s the deal? Are Apa and Mr. Fantasy the same person? Here’s what to know.
Who is Mr. Fantasy? Are him and KJ Apa the same person?
Mr. Fantasy – whose “real” identity had been debated online – is a British musician hailing from Harrogate, England, he told USA TODAY in a Nov. 26, 2025, interview.
Many people on social media believe the artist is potentially the alter ego of New Zealand-born actor KJ Apa, best known for his role as Archie Andrews on the television show “Riverdale.” It has not been confirmed by niether the artist nor the actor.
While Apa and Mr. Fantasy do not appear to look alike at first glance due to the artist’s signature dark bob, sunglasses and teeth, viewers have pointed out in TikTok videos and online theories that Apa and Mr. Fantasy appear to have the same or similar tattoos.
When asked by USA TODAY about the people questioning his identity, Mr. Fantasy simply responded, “I haven’t seen any doubters.”
KJ Apa addresses Mr. Fantasy speculation, calls him a ‘thief’
Apa finally addressed the rumors that he is Mr. Fantasy in a May 6 Instagram post.
“So, there has been something going on for a long time that I haven’t addressed because I didn’t think it was even worth addressing,” the 28-year-old said.
Apa said he felt the need to speak on Mr. Fantasy’s persona as it’s been impacting his personal life.
“I have to do it now because it’s hurting me and my career,” he said. He also addressed Mr. Fantasy’s latest music video for his song, “Do Me Right,” which featured several celebrity cameos, including some of Apa’s former “Riverdale” castmates.
“If anyone out there thinks that it’s okay to take someone’s image, literal tattoos, and to use it for their own success, is completely wrong,” he said. “Everything that I’ve worked hard for now comes to a halt because of this f—ing idiot.”
“This person advocates for positivity and for kindness and for all of this stuff. Look in the mirror and tell yourself that you’re not a f—ing liar and a thief because that’s exactly what you are. That’s it,” Apa added.
The music video has only leaned into the theories about Mr. Fantasy and Apa being the same person, especially since it featured Apa’s “Riverdale” costars Madelaine Petsch, Lili Reinhart and Camila Mendes. Apa, however, was not included.
Other celebrities who starred in the video were Alex Warren, Cody Simpson, Dave Franco, Derek Hough, Kiernan Shipka, Neal McDonough, Nick Jonas, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Rob Lowe, Rufus Sewell, Sombr, Tyler Posey, Zoey Deutch and Jimmy Tatro.
