Michele Singer Reiner may have been best known by the public due to her marriage to filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner, though she made a name for herself as an accomplished photographer.

Who Was Michele Singer Reiner?
Michele’s most notable work as a photographer was when she shot the cover photo for Donald Trump’s 1987 book The Art of the Deal, according to her IMDb page.
She went on to work as the photographer for the MysteryDisc video games, as well as on Rob’s 1990 thriller Misery.
Outside of her photography career, Michele also worked as an actress and producer. She starred as Vanessa in the 1994 Steve Martin-led comedy Mixed Nuts, while she collaborated with Rob by working as a producer on 2017’s Shock and Awe, 2023’s Albert Brooks: Defending My Life and 2025’s Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.
Michele even earned an Emmy nomination alongside Rob for Albert Brooks: Defending My Life in the Outstanding Documentary/Nonfiction Special category during the 2024 awards show. However, they lost the award to Jim Henson Idea Man.
She will have one posthumous producing credit for the upcoming film Wind River: Rising, which does not yet have a release date. The film stars Jason Clarke, Scott Eastwood, Joshua Odjick, Gil Birmingham and Alan Ruck.

Michele and Rob first met in 1989 when he was directing When Harry Met Sally. They hit it off and wasted no time, getting married that same year.
The couple went on to welcome kids Jake Reiner, Nick Reiner and Romy Reiner. Meanwhile, Michele was a stepmother to Tracy Reiner, whom the Princess Bride director adopted during his first marriage to Penny Marshall.
Michele Singer Reiner and Rob Reiner Died in December 2025
Michele and Rob died inside their home in Los Angeles on December 14, 2025. He was 78 and she was 68.
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner,” a spokesperson for the family confirmed to Variety. “We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”
Hours after their deaths, Deputy Chief Alan S. Hamilton confirmed in a press conference that the LAPD was “conducting an ongoing homicide investigation into the two deaths at Rob Reiner’s Brentwood home.” Additionally, Hamilton said that Michele and Rob died “from apparent stab wounds.”
Us Weekly confirmed on December 15 that Nick was arrested on a murder charge following his parents’ deaths. He is currently being held on a $4 million bail, according to Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department records viewed by Us.
Shortly after Rob and Michele’s deaths, Tracy broke her silence on their family’s tragedy.
“I came from the greatest family ever,” she told NBC News on December 14. “I don’t know what to say. I’m in shock.”
