As was talked about many times over the course of this week’s episode of Survivor 49, the game is completely fluid. Granted, there do seem to be groups of two or three-person alliances, but any loyalty to other groups comes and goes with the tide. Last week’s split Tribal Council threw the game into disarray, with a new free agent emerging and one group beginning to consolidate power (and advantages). And, despite lines of loyalty seemingly disappearing, it was someone who was playing all sides who got clipped.
Check out spoilers about tonight’s episode below and find out who was voted out.
Who was voted off on Survivor 49 tonight?
‘Survivor 49’ contestant Alex MooreRobert Voets/CBS
Alex Moore
It is only fitting that Congressional communications director Alex Moore got voted out for playing too politically. The D.C. resident started off his term on the wrong foot, part of this season’s “disaster tribe,” and single-handedly blew a lead on Day 1 to Rizo Velovic. Alex’s journey went from bad to worse over the first week in the game, as he continued to go to Tribal Council, lost his number one, Jake Latimer, to a freak snake bite, and was pushed to waste his idol.
Things began to turn around, however, when he started caucusing with other tribes. Alex got to take an extended hiatus from voting throughout the premerge and used that opportunity to make inroads with new faces. When the merge hit, Alex left his fellow Kele Sophi Balerdi in the dark, choosing to side with his new connections in the former Hinas to break the Ulis apart. Seeing how open the game was, however, he chose to keep his options open. Rizo not only clocked his position, but used it — along with some good old-fashioned truth-stretching — to make him the target of his underdog alliance. Yet again, he was able to hold onto his idol, as Uli stuck together with the “Sophies” to appoint him to the jury.
Were any advantages found or played on Survivor 49 tonight?
No! After throwing an extra vote into the game last episode, no idols or advantages were given out this week. However, given the shocked reactions from the jury in the preview, we should expect some trinkets to come out in next week’s episode.

A reward is won — and given away!
This episode saw a Reward Challenge that had two groups of four castaways competing for the best reward of the season: An afternoon of fried chicken, fries, soft drinks and cheesecake. It was talked about before on the mat how Jawan Pitts is the only person left in the game who hasn’t been on a food reward. And, through the end of the challenge, that streak would continue, as his group ultimately lost. However, Kristina Mills, feeling sympathy for Jawan and noting how much he provides for everyone at camp, decided to give up her spot at the reward for him. This marks one of the rare times in Survivor history where someone has actively given their reward away to another player in the game.
