Whoopi Goldberg thinks sending President Donald Trump to the moon for NASA’s next space mission would be a great idea.
During the Thursday, April 30 episode of The View, the panel was discussing Trump’s recent comments about going to space following the recent Artemis II. During a recent address with the mission’s astronauts, Trump said he’d physically “have no trouble making it” into space and asked if “a president is allowed to go up on one of these missions.”
“You could go up there if they left you up there,” Goldberg, 70, quipped after hearing Trump’s remarks. “You can drive around on the moon on the rover.”
Goldberg ultimately balked at the idea of leaving Trump, 79, in space citing he doesn’t have the qualifications to be an astronaut.
“But I don’t think you would really qualify because you need a master’s degree in STEM fields,” she said. “You don’t have any master’s degrees.”
Goldberg added that Trump also did not meet the age requirements and some additional skills needed.
“You have to have skills in leadership, teamwork and communications,” she said.
Cohost Joy Behar agreed with Goldberg about sending Trump to the moon and pitched for some of his colleagues to join him on the adventure.
“Take [JD] Vance and that Mike Johnson with you,” Behar, 83, quipped. “I hear that Jupiter is lovely this time of year. Maybe Jupiter, because the moon is not that far. Jupiter is further away!”
On a lighter note, Alyssa Farah Griffin — who previously served in Trump’s first administration — expressed her enthusiasm for the Artemis II mission.
“Everything about it made me feel better about life in the moment when it doesn’t feel great,” Griffin said of the space excursion.
Sunny Hostin also agreed that the mission was inspiring and that she doesn’t think Trump has what it takes to go to space.

“I don’t think the president would qualify for space travel, especially when he led with, ‘You have to be really smart.’ Let’s remember that his professor at UPenn, Professor William T. Kelly, remembers this president as being the dumbest student that he ever had in the history of teaching,” Hostin, 57, said.
White House spokesman Davis Ingle addressed Goldberg and Behar’s comments in a statement to Us Weekly, “Whoopi Goldberg and ‘Joyless’ Behar are a pair of useful idiots that have no talent and a very poorly rated TV show. I lose brain cells every single time I have the displeasure of hearing them speak.”
Trump has had beef with The View over the years. Both Goldberg and Behar have been critical of the president since his first term. The women have continued to speak out against Trump and his administration.
