Less than 48 hours after officiating Taylor Swift and Kelce’s wedding at Madison Square Garden, the comedian was in Nantucket and phoned the police department for an unexpected reason.
“Hey, I’m here on your island and I like to play basketball,” public safety dispatcher Chris Reynolds recalled Sandler saying, per local outlet Nantucket Current. “Can you tell me where there’s a basketball court I could play on?”

Reynolds directed the Happy Gilmore star to the Backus Lane court off Surfside Road, where he joined in on a pickup basketball game. “Adam Sandler rolled in a car and started playing pick ups with the boys,” Andrew Kesler told the outlet. “He’s like ‘guys let me stretch I’m going to hop in.’”
As for his hoop-shooting skills, Kesler revealed Sandler’s “great passing and playmaking, decent lay-ups, hesitated to shoot the ball.”
Sandler bookended his officiating gig on July 3 with another pickup game at a public basketball court in New York, working up a sweat in the 100-degree heat hours before the star-studded wedding.
A rep for Swift confirmed that she and Kelce tied the knot on Friday, detailing their ensembles for the big day along with revealing who stood beside them as they exchanged vows. Swift and Kelce “did not have bridesmaids or groomsmen,” the statement revealed.

“Instead, her brother Austin Swift served as Taylor’s Man of Honor and Jason Kelce was Travis’ Best Man. The ceremony joined both families together and was officiated by friend Adam Sandler,” the statement read.
The Jumbotrons outside of MSG also announced their union once the couple was officially wed via a message that read: “JUST&T MARRIED!”
Sandler has known the musician for years, while Kelce appeared in his movie Happy Gilmore 2. “Taylor is incredible,” the comedian told Entertainment Tonight ahead of the golf comedy’s release. “Taylor is so damn nice to my family and has always been. My kids have met Taylor a bunch of times over the years, and she’s ridiculously nice to them and warm.”
He also gushed about Kelce, calling him “such a gentle, nice guy, and funny as hell.” “He’s like the guys I grew up with. When I was with Travis, it reminded me of my buddies in high school and just being able to laugh and say the things you want to say.”
