John Stamos is making it very clear that he has no plans to join Dancing With the Stars.
During the Tuesday, July 7, episode of “The Bobbycast” podcast, Stamos, 62, claimed he’s been asked to participate “every single season” but won’t sign up.
“I said, ‘Don’t ever ask me again,’” Stamos continued. “I’m never gonna do that show.”
Host Bobby Bones, who won season 27 of the ABC ballroom dance competition, urged Stamos to reconsider. Bones, 46, suggested that Stamos would “learn so much” about himself from the experience, especially if he worked with pro Emma Slater.
“I just never … What makes that show good is people suffering and looking like fools,” Stamos replied. “They’re breaking their feet, calluses … I don’t want that.”
Stamos previously shut down the possibility of competing on DWTS via X in 2010, writing, “I’m not doing Dancing With the Stars. Flattered to be asked. I’m not a dancer.”
Despite DWTS not being on his wishlist, Stamos has an open mind when it comes to accepting projects.
“[I am] in this phase of my career where I’m really looking for challenging, different roles,” he told People in March. “People trust me. I’ve been coming to their homes for 30, 40 years or whatever. It’s like, ‘OK, we’ll take this ride with him,’ and then it’s like, ‘Oh no, oh no, it’s getting weird. It’s getting weird.’“
He continued: “I just did Hunting Wives, which is a pretty dark, wild show.”
The Full House alum previously recalled wife Caitlin McHugh‘s reaction to him joining the hit Netflix show.
“I told my wife I was doing it, and she said, ‘Are you gonna show your penis?’” he recalled on Today in December 2025. “And I said, ‘I don’t think so.’ But it’s one of those shows.”
At the time, host Craig Melvin asked whether Stamos already verified in his scripts that he has no nude scenes, but the actor said he hadn’t read anything yet about his role.
Asked whether the possible nudity would be a dealbreaker for him, Stamos replied, “Well, we’ll see.”
Based on May Cobb‘s book of the same name, The Hunting Wives follows Sophie (Brittany Snow), who is drawn to prominent Texas socialite Margo (Malin Åkerman) after moving from Boston. While some fans became invested in the murder at the center of the series, The Hunting Wives also provided plenty of entertainment with its steamy onscreen hookups.
The eight-episode series, which premiered in July 2025, was originally filmed for Starz before Lionsgate Television acquired the rights. Netflix licensed U.S. rights to the series for a year, so viewers got even more sex scenes than they expected.
Season 2 is expected to air soon after wrapping production.
