Kate Middleton and her husband, Prince William, welcomed President Donald Trump to Windsor Castle on Wednesday, September 17, during his second state visit to the UK. The President was there with his wife, First Lady Melania Trump. At the time of greeting, the Princess of Wales was not seen doing a curtsy to Donald Trump.

According to a report by Us Weekly magazine, with this no-curtsy greeting, Kate Middleton did not break any royal protocol.

Kate Middleton is not bound by royal protocol to curtsy Donald Trump

Kate Middleton and Prince William recently greeted President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump at Windsor Castle. After that, the four of them went on to meet King Charles and his wife, Queen Camilla. Upon their meeting, the Princess of Wales did not do a curtsy to Donald Trump, as there is no formal rule that says she had to curtsy-greet any world leader visiting the UK.

Per Us Weekly magazine, the official website of the royal family reads, “There are no obligatory codes of behavior when meeting The Queen or a member of the royal family.” It continues, “but many people wish to observe the traditional forms.” The site further reads, “For men this is a neck bow (from the head only) whilst women do a small curtsy.” It also states, “Other people prefer simply to shake hands in the usual way.”

In the meantime, during the meeting, Kate Middleton donned an elegant coat-style midi dress in a tone of burgundy. The dress was from designer Emilia Wickstead. The full-sleeve dress featured a belt detailing around the waistline. From there, the apparel fell into a mid-length skirt with pleats. The Princess of Wales also wore a matching burgundy hat from Jane Taylor London. As for shoes, she opted for a pair of classic pumps. She was also seen carrying a brown handbag with a golden handle in the photos from the grounds of Windsor Castle.
