Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes are giving their three-year romance another go, multiple sources told Us Weekly. After their September breakup, the two stars sparked reconciliation rumors when they were seen holding hands in Dubrovnik, Croatia, on November 7. A source told Us Weekly shortly after the sighting that the duo had been spotted looking “very much loved-up” together a few weeks earlier in Edinburgh, Scotland. (Stokes is currently shooting the next season of Netflix’s Outer Banks in Croatia.)
A source told Us Weekly today that the reconciliation was an organic decision: “Kelsea and Chase are giving their relationship another try. There’s still a lot of love there, so they fell back into it very naturally.”
Over the weekend, a source told Entertainment Tonight that the couple had privately been on and off for the past few months: “They really want to make it work, but Kelsea has been a bit hesitant to fully dive back in.”
When Ballerini’s representative first confirmed the breakup back in September, sources close to the couple told People, “They’re two adults who gave it their all and tried to do everything they could to make it work, but ultimately couldn’t. It happens.”
On September 22, a source added further context, telling Us Weekly that Ballerini had “initiated” the breakup conversation. “It was a hard split,” the insider said. “They had been arguing a lot recently, and their communication wasn’t great in the last month. They were both traveling so much and trying to juggle everything, and the arguments piled up.”
They were “mature adults and had the same understanding that they needed space,” the source added, noting, “There is still a lot of love between them,” and the pair is just “extremely busy right now.”
Earlier in July, Ballerini spoke to Us Weekly about her relationship with Stokes, saying, “I think we’re really similar—and in the ways that we’re different, that’s where we challenge each other…I just want all the good things in the world for him.”
Stokes echoed that sentiment in his birthday tribute to Ballerini, posted days before their initial breakup news hit. He wrote, “Although you keep saying you’re not excited for 32, I’d say I’m lookin forward to more of this. Happy birthday, my love ❤️.”
