Prince Harry recently dropped a personal essay about his British identity ahead of Remembrance Day, and apparently it’s sent the royals into a full spiral. Specifically because of one simple word Harry used: “currently.”

“Though currently, I may live in the United States, Britain is, and always will be, the country I proudly served and fought for. The banter of the mess, the clubhouse, the pub, the stands ridiculous as it sounds, these are the things that make us British. I make no apology for it. I love it.”
Apparently the Palace thinks Harry’s use of “currently” is setting the stage for a return to the United Kingdom, and Rob Shutter’s #ShutterScoop says it has “royal aides sweating.”
“He could’ve said ‘I live in America,'” says a former courtiers. “‘Currently’ implies the situation is temporary.”
Meanwhile, Harry recently revealed on Hasan Minhaj Doesn’t Know podcast that he has no plans to pursue U.S. citizenship, saying “Am I going to become a U.S. citizen? There are no plans to be, at this point.”
#ShuterScoop also notes that Harry is well aware of rumors that his brother, Prince William, will strip non-working royals of their titles once he becomes king.
