It has been not 10 minutes, but 10 years that we have been waiting for Taylor Swift to return to the Met Gala, and yet, the superstar will not grant us our wish. Tonight, the worlds of fashion, music, film, and art collided on the steps of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art for fashion’s biggest night, but the “All Too Well” singer was again missing.
The last time Swift attended the gala was in 2016. Then, her now honey-blonde hair was an icy bleached blonde, and she shimmered in a metallic silver Louis Vuitton minidress and lace-up gladiator stilettos. It was also the night she met the man whom she would go on to date for the next six years, Joel Alwyn.
Had Swift made her return to the famous gala tonight, it would have marked exactly 10 years since that moment. Plus, exactly two months from today, Swift is set to marry Travis Kelce in New York City, so their debut tonight would have positively broken the internet.
Swift has been on a bit of break from the spotlight ever since she wrapped up her press tour for The Life of a Showgirl late last year. The end of the run also coincided with her engagement to Kelce, who proposed just after the pop superstar went on his podcast, New Heights, for a candid, lengthy interview.
Per several sources, Swift and Kelce—who has been on his NFL season break—have since been on planning mode, and the intimate (but star-studded) nuptials are nearly here.
