Taylor Swift did not grace us with her presence on tonight’s MTV Video Music Awards red carpet, despite being nominated for Artist of the Year.
The superstar’s absence is likely due to the fact that she received only one nomination—for Artist of the Year—at this year’s award show, while at the 2024 VMAs she received a whopping 12 nominations and ended up taking home seven moon person trophies.
(If she wins the Artist of the Year award tonight, Swift could become the artist with the most VMAs in history. Currently she is tied with Beyoncé at 30.)

As readers know, Swift recently became engaged to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, whom she began dating in 2023. The NFL star proposed to her in August, and the two shared the happy news via a joint Instagram post. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” they wrote alongside a series of photos of the dreamy garden proposal.
Some days after their engagement, Swift and Kelce were seen at a college football game in Kansas City, Missouri. They have stayed out of the spotlight since.
This past Friday, Kelce and his team flew to São Paolo, Brazil, for their game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Swift was not spotted with him, or in attendance at the game, but with the “Fortnight” singer, you really never know.
