We’re getting closer and closer to the reported date of Taylor Swift’s wedding, and as with most things that have to do with Swift, everyone’s got an opinion about both her and her upcoming nuptials. And though a lot of those opinions are positive, there’s a fair number of people who are pointing out the excess involved in the upcoming celebration.
And of course, there are always some people who just don’t like Swift. That’s what happens when you’re a superstar. And Alan Jackson’s farewell concert was an opportunity for a lot of those people to get their say.

The event, titled Last Call: One More for the Road – The Finale, saw over 50,000 reunite to celebrate Jackson in what is being billed as the end of his touring career after three decades. It featured performances from Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Miranda Lambert. It also featured a video from Swift, who thanked Jackson for his influence and the “support and encouragement” he’s shown her throughout her career.

Fans quickly came to Swift’s defense in the comments. “Well that’s not nice,” one person wrote. Another one said, “That is so disgusting and disrespectful,” with a third comment adding, “The concept of booing a heartfelt and supportive message towards someone you came to see and support is insane to me.”
“Clearly Alan likes her, why couldn’t his fans have some basic respect?” someone else wrote. Yet another commenter added, “you’re allowed to not like her but at least respect her as a person.”
There were even suggestions that Swift’s political leanings might have been the reason the conservative-leaning crowd might have reacted the way it did.
What is known, however, is that Swift has been in the headlines because of her upcoming wedding to Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce. And according to Hollywood insider Rob Shuter, a lot of people are less than pleased about possible street closures around the reported venue of Madison Square Garden. The wedding is reported to take place over the 4th of July weekend.
“New Yorkers already spend enough time sitting in traffic,” a source told Shuter’s Naughty But Nice. “The reaction is, ‘Isn’t Madison Square Garden big enough? Now you need the streets too?’”
“People are trying to get home from work, catch trains, or leave the city for the July Fourth weekend. Nobody wants to hear that their commute could be disrupted because two very rich people are throwing a wedding,” another one said.
There are even comparisons to Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s wedding in Venice. “After Venice, you’d think celebrities would understand that people don’t like feeling their city has been turned into a private party,” another insider said. “That’s exactly what this risks looking like.”
And even some fans are a little upset. “Taylor’s gift has always been knowing how ordinary people think,” a Swiftie said. “This feels different. The mood is, ‘Why should my day be harder because of a pop star and a football player?‘“
It’s all above board, permits have been filed. But, “people don’t care who filed the permits. They see street closures, traffic delays, and a celebrity wedding. To them, it feels rude—and that’s becoming the story,” another source added.
