Wicked: For Good isn’t even out yet, but the the second and final part of Elphaba and Glinda’s adventure in the wonderful world of Oz is already breaking box office records. Ahead of its release next week, it’s just done it again.
Previously, the film had set the record for the best first-day ticket pre-sales for 2025 as noted by Fandango, which had put the movie in the list of the site’s top 10 all-time first-day ticket pre-sellers.
Now the US ticketer has confirmed that the upcoming film is now the best PG-rated ticket pre-seller of all time.
With a week still to go before the release date, there is plenty of time for more pre-sales and for more records to be broken.
The year’s three biggest English-language films are currently the Lilo & Stitch remake ($1.03 billion), A Minecraft Movie ($957 million) and Jurassic World Rebirth ($868 million).

All three pale in comparison to China’s Ne Zha 2 ($2.21 billion), which features Wicked’s Michelle Yeoh in its English dub.
That huge box office taking seems pretty untouchable, but could the musical sequel overtake its Hollywood peers?
The first film made $756 million at the box office, so For Good has quite the uphill climb to even beat Jurassic World, but there’s definitely a lot of hype behind it.

There aren’t any proper reviews for Wicked: For Good yet, but some critics have been able to see it already and were allowed to post some brief reactions online.
Based on those reactions, For Good is even better than the first part, with Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande upping their game, and the new songs slotting in very nicely among the classics.
Wicked: For Good will land in UK cinemas on 21 November.
