NEED TO KNOW

  • Will Ferrell strips down to his underwear in a new SKIMS campaign tied to his new comedy series, The Hawk

  • The campaign features Ferrell in SKIMS briefs as his Hawk character, golfer Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins

  • The Hawk premieres July 16 on Netflix and follows Hawkins’ quest to reclaim his former glory

Will Ferrell‘s new SKIMS photo shoot is a swing and a hit!

In the latest campaign for the Kim Kardashian-owned loungewear and lingerie company, the 58-year-old comedian stripped down to nothing but his underwear and posed as golfer Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins, his character from the upcoming Netflix series The Hawk.

In new snaps from the SKIMS menswear photo shoot, Ferrell channels the once top-seeded golfer looking to recapture his former glory in a white visor emblazoned “HAWK.” He also rocks a puka shell necklace in the shots, perhaps nodding to the early 2000s, when his now washed-up The Hawk character reached his career high.

For underwear, the comedian wore SKIMS’ briefs, seemingly in the colorway “Nimbus Multi,” a powdery blue shade. In some shots, he also teamed the ultra-short briefs with a simple white tank top while posing with various golf-related accessories.

One photo sees Ferrell’s character holding a golf club over his shoulder. Another sees him lying out next to a club and ball while rocking a stern — and almost sultry — expression. He also squeezes a SKIMS-branded water bottle filled with what appears to be a blue sports drink, which shoots out of the nozzle, in another shot.

Baring all — and reigniting his campaign for PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive — in a video for the new campaign, Ferrell also shows off a seriously defined farmer’s tan. Clad in nothing but briefs, socks and sneakers, the in-character comedian swings and hits a ball as a voiceover teases the plot of The Hawk.

“His body says retire,” a voice says as Ferrell puts on SKIMS-branded golf gloves and tees up a SKIMS-branded golf ball on a green. “His SKIMS say one more round. Built for men who still know they’ve got it.”

The promotional clip ends with Ferrell’s golfer swinging and celebrating his shot before tossing his club aside and walking off-screen. “@LonnieTheHawk for SKIMS Mens. The legendary golfer is back for one more round, and this time, he’s wearing SKIMS,” the caption reads.

Ferrell’s The Hawk collaboration with SKIMS comes shortly after the company’s owner Kardashian, 45, taught the actor — once again in character as Hawkins — how to do the perfect selfie pose. “Yeah, so, chin down, a little out … find your good side,” the SKIMS founder said in an Instagram Reel posted Tuesday, June 16, while Ferrell complimented the reality TV star: “God, you look fantastic!”

Like the steamy SKIMS pics, the skit was an advertisement for the comedian’s new Netflix show.

The 10-episode series — also featuring Molly Shannon, Jimmy Tatro, Fortune Feimster, Luke Wilson, Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver and David Hornsby — follows Hawkins, “2004’s number one golfer,” as he “struggles on the back nine of his career to recapture his magic,” per an official synopsis.

“His body says retire, but his heart says he’s not done yet,” the synopsis continues. “His ex-wife and his son Lance, golf’s new golden boy, know he’s through. But with one more major to win to complete golf’s Grand Slam, Lonnie refuses to believe he’s anything other than one stroke away from the greatest comeback in golf history.”

The Hawk premieres on Netflix July 16.
