Will Smith has been getting closer to estranged wife Jada Pinkett Smith for the first time in years — and a source tells Globe they’re living together again, too. However, friends are urging him to tread carefully because she’s got a long history of reeling him back in and then breaking his heart all over again.
“Jada recently moved back into the main property in Calabasas, even though she’s kept hold of her other base in Hidden Hills, a few miles away,” the source says. “They’re taking things day by day, but they’re getting along a whole lot better, which the kids are so happy to see.”
Will and Jada share Jaden, 27, and Willow, 24, while the Bad Boys actor is also dad to Trey, 32.
“For all their troubles, Will and Jada are both in agreement that they’re stronger together, and neither of them has any interest in being serious with anyone else,” the source continues. “Everyone knows they’ve both had plenty of other flirtations down the years but ultimately they’re still bound by family as well as business.”
The Independence Day star, 56, and Jada, 53, co-run a successful production company, and the source explains that it would be difficult for them to simply give up and try to formally split their assets. But, there’s more to the issue than just the money complications.

“Will’s a proud guy. He adores Jada and hates the idea of sitting down with lawyers and formally throwing the towel in on everything they’ve built together,” the source adds. “That’s all well and good, his intentions are clearly honorable, but a lot of people still think Jada’s taking him for a ride.”
“They’ve seen this all before,” the source adds, “and it only seems to end one way — which never seems to favor Will.”
The pair were spotted together on September 7 for the first time in almost a year. In pictures shared by Page Six, Will and the Girls Trip actress were seen grabbing a bite to eat at Nobu in Malibu, California, before hopping into a white Lamborghini and zipping off to their next stop.
