For those who adore cozy TV shows with mystery and multigenerational drama, The Way Home is the perfect fall companion.
Created by Heather Conkie, Alexandra Clarke, and Marly Reed, the Hallmark Channel series follows three generations of Landry women as they reconnect across decades and heal long-buried wounds.
After 20 years away from home, Kat (Chyler Leigh) returns to the family farm with her daughter Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) and reunites with her estranged mother, Del (Andie MacDowell). But things take a fantastical turn when Alice and Kat discover the pond on the property lets them travel through time.
With three seasons already under its belt, The Way Home has delivered plenty of heartfelt drama, compelling mysteries, and unexpected time-travel twists. So what’s next for the Landry ladies? Here’s everything we know about The Way Home season 4.

Yes, The Way Home season 4 is in the works. In March 2025, the Hallmark Channel confirmed the renewal just one day ahead of the season 3 finale.
“Our talented writing staff led by the mother-daughter showrunning team of Heather Conkie and Alexandra Clarke continues to amaze us as they raise the bar each season,” said Samantha DiPippo, senior vice president of programming at Hallmark Media, in a statement. “Their carefully crafted storytelling filled with family drama, romance and an absorbing mystery has enthralled the show’s passionate fanbase and has made The Way Home appointment television.”
Andie MacDowell celebrated the renewal in a social media video, saying, “We could not be more excited to bring you more romance, family drama, mystery, and, of course, time travel.”

The season 3 finale of The Way Home is filled with plenty of time-traveling and big reveals that set up season 4. In the final moments, a flashback reveals that a baby (Elliot) is left on Del and Colton’s (Jefferson Brown) doorstep just after the birth of their daughter. Two unknown teens are then seen jumping into the pond.
Earlier in the episode, Del makes her first jump back in time with Kat and witnesses her own wedding. Alice ends up in 2000, where adult Colton realizes she’s his granddaughter.
Kat and Elliot eventually reconcile, and the latter soon finds a letter from his mother that reads, “I jump for love,” suggesting she may have traveled through the pond with a member of the Landry family.
Alice recalls meeting her in 1974, and a T.S. Eliot quote etched into a clock in Elliot’s home hints at deeper ties to the past, especially since the clock was installed years before the quote was written.
Meanwhile, Jacob (Spencer Macpherson) disappears once again, and Casey (Vaughan Murrae) finally shares that they aren’t Alice’s child from the future.

All plot details for The Way Home season 4 remain a mystery, but it will likely continue to follow Alice and Kat as they use the pond to explore their family’s past.
Though not confirmed, there is a chance fans will learn more about Del’s love interest, Sam (Rob Stewart), and Casey, specifically who they really are.
Speaking with PEOPLE, co-showrunner Alexandra Clarke hinted that Sam’s appearance in the final moments of the season 3 finale is more than just symbolic: “I hope people recognize that we went to the trouble of posing him exactly as Elliot posed at the pond at the end of our pilot episode. And he says the exact same words,” she said. “We were very determined to have history repeat itself. We love these moments of the past echoing in the present and the cyclical thing that we do where the past is never gone. Maybe that in and of itself could tell people something about Sam.”
As for Casey, Clarke told TV Insider that their full story was intentionally held back: “I think we realized early on that there was a way we could reveal all about Casey in our episode 10, but we held back because it is such a lovely reveal and we didn’t want it to just be yet another reveal in this episode of reveals.”
Clarke continued, “There’s so much more story to tell with Casey. Casey is the most mercurial, incredible character… They’ve got a little bit of Goodwin, they’ve got a little bit of Augustine, they’ve got a little bit of Landry. And I think it’s lovely to see the viewers continue to guess at who they actually are. The answer will be shared, of course it will.”
