Jesse Eisenberg is known for his impeccable performances in films such as The Social Network and A Real Pain, which showcased his ability to channel deep emotional complexity. Even though people love his serious work, his film Zombieland remains one of his most loved films. However, if you are one of those who believe a third Zombieland movie might arrive soon, Eisenberg has some news for fans, and it’s not something they wanted to hear.
While promoting the third movie in the Now You See Me franchise, titled Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, the 42-year-old actor was asked if fans could expect another Zombieland anytime soon. Although he didn’t deny the possibility of returning to the zombie-filled world, he kept things vague, indicating that the fourth Now You See Me movie is likely to arrive much sooner than the third film in the horror-comedy film series.
Eisenberg told Comicbook.com, “Yes, I would like to [make Zombieland 3]. Zombieland was, I think, a 10-year break in between. This movie, we did one, and then like three years later, and then 10 years later. So, Now You See Me is probably more likely to have more movies than Zombieland.”
The first Zombieland movie went on to become a massive success at the box office and also attained positive reviews. The title, which was released in 2009, grossed over $102 million globally on a production budget of $23 million. However, it took Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson almost a decade to return for the sequel, titled Zombieland: Double Tap, and take viewers on another enthralling journey.
The sequel performed even better and earned more than $125 million worldwide. But it doesn’t come as a shock that Eisenberg is more inclined toward Now You See Me. The film series gave him a chance to tap into a different genre and showcase his wit in a fast-paced setting that’s very different from the intense roles he’s best known for.
Moreover, it is more commercially successful and has grossed over $686 million globally, which might be one of the biggest reasons why Now You See Me is more important.
Let’s hope Zombieland fans get to see another wild ride soon.
