LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The legendary Wing Bowl made its Las Vegas debut at the Plaza Hotel & Casino on Saturday, marking the first time the event has been held outside Philadelphia since its inception in 1993.
With a $5,000 cash prize at stake, 20 competitors battled through three rounds of intense chicken wing eating.
Molly Schuyler claimed first place by devouring 189 wings, followed by Notorious BOB with 162 wings, and Dan Kennedy, Schuyler’s husband, with 117 wings.
Jesse Pynnonen, a competitive eater from Finland, and top-ranked British eater Adam Moran emceed the event, while Vernon Cathy, a Powerslap Light Heavyweight contender, served as the special guest judge.
The event featured a live performance by the band Trapt, known for their hit song “Headstrong,” and offered a cash bar and a special limited edition Wing Bowl beer from Beer Zombies.
The Wingettes from Peppermint Hippo, the event’s official after-party location, added to the excitement.
