And then there is what happened to Taylor Paige Long (@taylorpaigelong), who brought her on-and-off man to an exclusive Art Basel event in Miami where Serena Williams and Simone Biles were speaking. Then he used AI to remove her from a photo of the two of them she took. If that wasn’t bad enough, he sent it to her like it was totally normal.
The video, which has no narration (just text overlays, screenshots, and “Lucifer’s Waltz” playing), has racked up over 800,000 views.
Some commenters agree the song is the perfect soundtrack for a 42-year-old man AI-erasing his date from a photo.
An ungrateful plus one at Art Basel
The event in question was an intimate conversation hosted by Vanity Fair, The Female Quotient, and Audemars Piguet during the 2024 Art Basel weekend in Miami, Florida. Serena Williams and Simone Biles sat on stage together for what attendees described as an inspiring discussion about empowerment, mental health, and entrepreneurship.
It was, by all accounts, a room full of women being reminded of what’s possible.
Long brought her situationship as her plus one. In a text overlay, she notes that they’ve been on again, off again.
To his credit, he seemed to be having a good time. He even posed for a photo of the two of them together at the event. Later he asked if she’d gotten any photos of him by himself. Long admitted that she hadn’t.
Apparently, he found a workaround.
An AI edit with a tell
Long’s date used AI to completely erase her from the pic. Then he sent her a video that included the photo with her digitally deleted like this was a totally reasonable thing to do.
Long didn’t think so. She responded, “Damn you cutting me out.”
He replied, “Lol naw just focusing on me.”
Long did not respond to a request for comment.
Is it ever okay to remove your date from pics with AI?
The comment section combusted. The video resonated with many who’ve given a situationship the benefit of the doubt one too many times.
Viewers didn’t mince words. “The audacity is peak,” wrote kiana.the.publici.
Chanouenoue suggested giving him a taste of his own medicine. “I hope you focus on you too,” they wrote. Missprimadonnaa’s advice was more direct, writing, “I hope you blocked him after that.”
Dageecheegamer caught a telling detail. “Baby I can still see the reflection in the glass lmao,” they said. Mswitchyttv offered a pointed two-word theory: “He’s married.”
Jacktinsleitis made a petty suggestion. “I hope you commented ‘this is not +1 energy,” he wrote.
Jasmintaylor_ cut straight to the point. “I hope you FULLY understood that last text exchange.”
Taylor replied, “The message was received LOUD and MF CLEAR!”
