Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, a competitive, physically grueling reality television series, is now down two more cast members, thanks to their injuries on set. Forced medical withdrawals are a tough pill to swallow, as evidenced by their reactions to their exits. Regardless, the directors had nothing but praise for these recruits, who each played solid games from Episode 1 and on. Here’s what happened.
Mark Estes and Christie Pearce Rampone had to exit Special Forces due to injury
Christie Pearce Rampone and Mark Estes left Season 4 early amid separate but equally intense health complications. They aren’t the first stars this season to get the boot. But we doubt this detail helped their feelings in the slightest.
When Christie woke up on day 7, she knew that she was going downhill fast. Her breathing was struggling, plus she had been up all night coughing. Therefore, this retired Olympic soccer star asked to see a medic. “I need something,” she told Dr. Andy Brown, adding, “I can’t breathe.”
After her checkup, Christie received devastating news. “Your chest sounds really tight, and you’ve got lots of crackles in your lungs as well. I think you’ve probably got a chest infection. I don’t think it’s a good idea for you to do any more exercise,” Dr. Brown said.
Meanwhile, Mark was also feeling down for the count. “My ear feels so f*cked up. It feels so weird,” he said. Then, during his visit with a medic, his ear pain began to worsen.
“There is some swelling there. It can cause long-term disfigurement.” So, “Number 3 needs to go to the hospital to be seen by an EMT surgeon as soon as possible,” his doctor stressed.
Both Christie and Mark were devastated. But their directors applauded them for their efforts nonetheless.
