Zack Snyder posted a behind-the-scenes photo of the 2016 film, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Although the film was a critical failure, the photo is absolutely incredible. That said, it denotes one of the major problems with Henry Cavill’s depiction of Superman. While he is an amazing actor otherwise, he probably wasn’t the right pick to play the Man of Steel.
In comparison to previous versions of the film, Zack Snyder had a noticeably darker version of the character. Therefore, because Superman was already macabre, he had to take Batman even darker. Many DC fans have made the accurate claim that Superman acts more like Batman, and the Dark Knight acts almost completely unhinged. That said, the cinematography and scoring for the film are absolutely incredible.
In the picture Zack Snyder posted to his Instagram, Cavill’s Superman is noticeably grimacing. He is making a darker expression in the picture than David Corenswet ever made throughout his Superman film. Even though it’s definitely normal to have different interpretations of the character, Zack Snyder took the character in a dark direction that it was never meant to go. That said, he definitely did his best with what he was given, and the cinematography still holds up today.
Ultimately, Zack Snyder’s post is really cool, but it also highlights what was wrong with his interpretations of the popular characters. Nevertheless, he still created some fantastic movies that hold a special place in several fans’ hearts. That said, many fans have been elated with James Gunn’s take on the DCU and cannot wait to see it continue.
