Zinc Media Group has been commissioned to reinvent and produce Season 18 of Stars of Science – marking Zinc’s first major entertainment series commission in the region.
One of the Arab world’s longest-running television formats from Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), Stars of Science combines innovation, entrepreneurship and competition, following inventors from across the region as they develop ideas with the potential to change lives and industries.
For its 18th season, Zinc is leading a full creative reset of the format, evolving the storytelling, visual identity and studio experience to broaden the show’s entertainment appeal while retaining its science and innovation DNA. The series will be produced by Zinc’s label in the Middle East – The Edge, A Media City Qatar Company – in both Arabic and English, with Zinc Distribution handling international sales and Zinc also overseeing the marketing and communications strategy across the 22 Arab countries and the global Arab diaspora.
The move marks a significant expansion of Zinc’s international entertainment ambitions and further strengthens The Edge’s growing presence across the Middle East production market. The series will shoot in Qatar later this year.
Andrea Hamilton (The Voice, Strictly Come Dancing) will Executive Produce the new season, bringing large-scale entertainment expertise to the format refresh.
Hamilton said: “Stars of Science already has an extraordinary legacy and cultural relevance across the region. The opportunity now is to evolve the format for a new generation of viewers, bringing more scale, emotion, jeopardy and entertainment storytelling while keeping innovation at the heart of the show. We want audiences to connect not just with the inventions, but with the people behind them.”
Faye Jackson, CMO, at Zinc Media Group said: “This is a hugely important commission for Zinc and a major milestone for our Middle East business. Our new operation under Media City Qatar lets us bring the full firepower of Zinc to the region, premium production, entertainment expertise, international distribution and strategic communications, all working together behind one show.”
