Tamara Smart – RETURNING
Tamara Smart joined the season two cast in the role of Thalia Grace, and she will be returning for season three.
Thalia is the Demigod daughter of Zeus who made her last stand to protect her friends at the edge of Camp Half-Blood. Rather than let her die, Zeus transformed her into a tree that anchors the force field that protects camp. Tough and prickly, with a rebel/punk sensibility, Thalia is fiercely loyal to her friends and distrustful of her father’s world.
“Thalia Grace is one of the most important characters in the Percy Jackson universe, so the right casting was critical,” author and executive producer Rick Riordan shared in a statement. “Thalia is a powerful warrior, a fiercely loyal friend, and a demigod rebel with a very ‘punk’ / ‘rage-against-the-machine’ sensibility. As soon as we saw Tamara Smart play this role, we knew we had found our daughter of Zeus. She was, no pun intended, electric. Tamara puts the ‘grace’ in Thalia Grace!”
Tamara‘s casting as the daughter of Zeus is quite poignant as she previously worked with the late Lance Reddick (who played Zeus in season one) on the Netflix series Resident Evil. She also played his daughter on that series.

It’s so close to my heart,” Tamara shared. “Lance Reddick and I always spoke about working together again, so it’s that much more special and important to me to play his daughter once more as Thalia, and to keep his memory alive. I feel his presence all around me and strive to make him proud on this exciting journey.”
Courtney B Vance – EXPECTED TO RETURN
Courtney B Vance joined the season two cast as Zeus, taking over the role from the late Lance Reddick, who sadly passed away in March 2023. He is expected to return for season three as his character is in the book.
“I can’t tell you how excited I am to join the extraordinary cast of ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians!’” Courtney told Variety. “There are few moments in an actor’s career when you can honestly say that you’re about to board a series that has such a devoted fan base filled with characters beloved around the world and is based on a wildly successful book series. I know that stepping into this role of Zeus will be a memorable experience and I’ll be giving my brother, Lance Reddick, who left us way too soon, a heavenly hug.”
Zeus can be described as the all-powerful god of the sky and leader of Mount Olympus, Zeus is tempestuous and mistrustful. He’s promised to wage a war if his stolen thunderbolt is not returned.
